Encaustic Workshops

Getting Hot
Introduction to Encaustic Painting

We will look into the history of encaustic, and learn essential skills for creating encaustic art. Participants will learn how to use the tools of encaustic painting, what grounds and sub-straights are best (how to prepare them), and studio safety.  Foundational techniques for making a painting will be covered, including painting, proper fusing, incising, accretion, and scraping. This workshop is a relaxed fun atmosphere where even non artists will come away with the knowledge to create with encaustic.
All materials are provided.
