Getting Hot
Beginning
We will explore the history of encaustic and learn basic skills for creating encaustic art. Participants will experience making the damar medium (medium is the most important element of encaustic painting), learning how to use the tools of encaustic painting, what grounds and sub-straights are best, studio safety, plus all of my personal tips and tricks. Image transfer, scraping, incising, embedding, and collage are some of the techniques we will cover. Participants will learn about using other media with encaustic, such as Pan Pastel as well. This workshop is a relaxed fun atmosphere where even non artists will come away with the knowledge to create with encaustic.
